EPLAN® to manage the Electrical Engineering Projects
EPLAN® is a widely used engineering design tool to manage projects by Electrical departments across various business units and it requires a seamless integration and collaboration with their Enterprise PLM tool to generate Items & Bill of Materials for execution. By this way they will avoid redundant data entry, ensure the data integrity, change management and single source of truth.
Presently 3DEXPERIENCE® doesn’t offer OOTB integration with EPLAN® and thus pushed FLSmidth to find a right and efficient way for the EPLAN® integration.
EPLAN® integration into the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform
The need drives FLSmidth to find the right solution to solve their business requirements in a more reliable and efficient way, so they have explored various options.
And FLSmidth was very keen to have a robust integration that works seamless with their existing data model and data structure without doing an extensive development, customization and configuration.

Next steps
Group Business Solution in FLSmidth is responsible for global enterprise PLM rollout and drives the plan as per Group management direction and business unit requirements.
Using DataSolid´s CAD integration, FLSmidth had their first integration implementation between EPLAN® and 3DEXPERIENCE® at FLSmidth Ventomatic, Italy and business Go-live is planned during winter 2017. Followed by FLSmidth Pfister, India in New Year 2018 as part of the 3DEXPERIENCE® rollout.
It is planned to have more rollouts in coming years across their organization and business units globally which will have the similar needs and engagement with DataSolid also on several other subjects.
